They work well and look nice. Used them on a 20 degree day in the northeast with nothing under them and they were warm. Any colder though and you'll want to wear a thin layer underneath. I grew up in Maine and like the cold so maybe most people would prefer a layer no matter what temp! In other words, they aren't the warmest pants out there but I was fine all day on the mountain and didn't get too hot while drinking my lunch, lol.While skiing I forgot about them so that means they are perfect in my book. My rule is if I don't think about a piece of equipment then it is perfect!I'll update to 5 stars if they stay dry through the winter....they are untested in wet conditions....
